Beauty and the Beast Design and Construction/Christopher Jon Associates recently completed extensive renovations on our home that entailed a new kitchen as well as upgrades to adjacent living and dining rooms. Throughout the project, from initial design discussions to more detailed requirements definition to work commencement to project completion, Chris demonstrated the highest levels of professionalism, customer focus, communications and expertise.
Initially, we were not totally committed to our project but after meeting Chris and having several followup meetings in which he provided excellent design, construction and materials suggestions for our consideration, we became convinced that we wanted to go ahead with Chris as our contractor. His patience and creativity at this critical stage were invaluable.
Once the project started, Chris showed a great deal of concern for our comfort and well-being in a number of ways. For example, he took extensive steps to control the dust that is unavoidable in any home renovation. As the work was started in late winter, Chris took steps to ensure that we were not without heat for any length of time and left the kitchen in a functional condition for as long as possible.
Throughout the entire project, Chris demonstrated communication skills that were far and away superior to any that we had encountered in prior renovation projects. He constantly kept us posted on each phase of the project, letting us know what he hoped to accomplish by when and letting us know of any contingencies or potential issues as they arose. He was always on site at the start of each day when the sub-contractors were there and was always readily available by phone when we needed to discuss something. When he said he would be on site on any given day, he always was there. He selected excellent sub-contractors who were personable, committed and did excellent work. Chris very capably managed the work and schedules of the sub-contractors so that there was no appreciable down time caused by work flow interruptions.
Chris's obsession with doing the job right was evident on many occasions. In the demo phase, he uncovered some serious framing issues with our home and was very diligent in ensuring they were corrected before further work was continued. We had many change orders and he expressed only support and enthusiasm in our changes and completed them as expeditiously as possible. He would often say: "I am working on your home as if it were my own."
Some inevitable surprises and glitches occurred due to circumstances outside the control of either Chris or us. He demonstrated great competence in working with us to get through and around these glitches and kept us informed every step of the way.
In short, we can provide only the highest possible recommendation for Chris to anyone who is considering him for a project. You can be confident you are working with the highest quality contractor, one who is driven to satisfy his clients. He will not disappoint.

Christopher Jon Associates/Beaty and the Beast Design and Construction completed extensive renovations on our recently purchased 3 bedroom and 2.5 bathroom townhome in Morris Township. We have renovated several residential properties in the past and would describe Christopher as among the best home builders we have worked with.
The project included demolition and construction of an open plan kitchen, living/dining room, and laundry room. The master bath, walk-in closet, and master bedroom suite were extensively remodeled and the smaller bathrooms and bedrooms were upgraded. We are pleased with the results and the working relationship with Christopher and his team was positive and solution- oriented. We have worked with him on subsequent smaller projects on our home.
Throughout the project, from initial design discussions to permitting, from detailed material selections to time lines, Christopher demonstrated professionalism, client focus, and timely communications. He brought a solid team of subcontractors including: electrical, plumbing, flooring, cabinets, countertops, HVAC, and painting. He was a player + coach during the project and was willing to get his hands dirty and do the heavy lifting when situations required it.
When we encountered inevitable surprises, Christopher communicated with us promptly and offered alternatives as well as his suggested course of action, which enabled us as homeowners to make decisions that suited our project and budget. He offered some creative design suggestions that created a better final result than we had envisioned at the start ... all while working to keep change orders to a minimum.
We were not living in our home during the three-month renovation, but Christopher and his crews kept the job site organized and tidy – which was helpful for our site visits – and kept us informed about progress and our eventual move in date. He dealt diplomatically with neighbors – those affected by the construction and those who were merely nosey – and we maintained a positive working relationship with the homeowners’ association throughout.
We would recommend Christopher for potential clients considering a residential project. He is quality-focused and client-friendly, and would be our choice again.

We had the distinct pleasure of working with Beauty and the Beast Design and Construction/Christopher Jon Associates. Christopher and his team managed a very custom project for us which included adding a custom glass conservatory Master Bath addition to our home in 2010.
Christopher was hands on from developing the concept and throughout the entire construction of the project. He managed all the sub-contractors and the end result was a unique and beautiful addition that we continue to enjoy to this day.
The project total was about $165,000.00 inclusive of the glass conservatory, steam shower, oversized soaking tub, custom tile installation, etc.
